Iphigenia's death

I've been pondering over Iphigenia's death and deer transformation and I decided I liked the deer version better. It's not because it's less graphic. I don't think the girl actually became a deer or was replaced by a deer. I just thought it a gentle and beautiful way to tell the mother her girl was dead. I thought it was a kind of comment on the girl's innocence, bravery, and selflessness; instead of viewing her death as a waste of youth, a tragedy, we see her dying for something more noble or more pleasing to the gods or for at least some purpose. Even though Iphigenia's death was essentially for Helen, I'd rather see it more as an honor for the gods or something like that. If I can't do anything about something (myth from long before I was born) I'd rather see some meaning and hope in a situation than not.
